Once you have captivated your audience with the cover page of your seminar workbook and draw them to learn more about it, the next step will be giving a strong introduction. You may have a terrific and outstanding cover page, but without a proper introduction, the audience might end up having a totally different impression from when they first saw the cover page. Hence, the introduction in your seminar workbook does make a huge impact.
So what exactly are the necessary things to be included in a seminar workbook? First and foremost should be the purpose of the seminar. In other words, the aim of the seminar and what your audience will be able to take home with them at the end of it. This has to be as accurate as possible because the audience will form an expectation of your seminar based on this. You do not want to leave any of the participants feeling shortchanged at the end of it. Hence, always remember not to make promises that you are not able to deliver or are uncertain if you can actually deliver.
The second thing that you should include in your introduction is the subject of study or discussion. Basically, these are the things that will be included during the presentation. If possible, try to be as clear as you can to avoid any confusions or misunderstandings. Once again, you have to be cautions when deciding on the subject because your participants will form their expectations based on this too. Before coming up with the subject of discussion, pay attention to the amount of time that you have first. Bear in mind that everything has to fit into that amount of time including a question and answer session at the end.
Thirdly, you can also include things such as who is this seminar suitable for and what the organisers hope to attain by holding the seminar in your introduction. These aren’t really the most important, but it can be useful. At the same time, it will be good to inform your participants if they will be receiving a form of certification or credit at the end of your seminar. If you have something planned for them, you won’t want them leaving without it. This would totally waste all your efforts.
